The NBC show "Law and Order: Criminal Intent" demonstrated the connections between the "religious right" and the violent anti-abortion terrorist network in the United States. Opponents of abortion rights have already begun to inundate NBC studios with negative feedback regarding this startlingly realistic program. Abortion rights activists must thank NBC for this public service that exposed the anti-abortion movement's violent and extreme tactics.

In an episode that tracked the murder of an abortion provider, “Law and Order: Criminal Intent”, aired on January 6 on NBC, portrayed an anti-abortion perpetrator at first assumed to be a “lone wolf” killer. Protagonists on the show, however, tracked the killer to a network of anti-abortion zealots who willingly harbored and assisted him. The network was similar to the anti-abortion movement in the US today, aimed at ending abortion by terrorizing both providers and women. The episode offered a brief but fairly broad depiction of a movement that has been chipping away at reproductive rights since the 1973 Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade that legalized abortion in all 50 states.
